I have a situation that has happened before and just happened again. My setup is Win XP Pro with the main drive being SATA split into the c and d drives. I have a 2nd drive which is a standard IDE Maxtor 300GB split into e and f.
For no reason I can think of, this 2nd drive no longer shows in my computer. If i go to disk management it shows the entire drive as being unallocated. I've rebooted and it still shows the same. I can repartition it and then reformat it and everything is fine. But being that this is a storage drive, i'm not too confident leaving any important data on it anymore.
Any idea what could be causing this? The event viewer does not show anything regarding this. Is it a bad drive or possibly something with Windows XP?
Thanks
