I just managed to score this deal:

AMD AthlonXP 2500+ (barton)
256MB DDR333 RAM
80GB HDD
AGP 8x Video Card (not sure exactly which one...)
17" CRT
KB/Mse/Spk/Headset
XPpro

All that for AU$270 (US$203). Not a bad buy was it?...

Just wondering if i would need anything special to use this as a Home Theatre PC? I don't honestly thing XP MCE is worth it, since all it really is is a new user interface.

Does the videocard have s-video out (or something similar)? Does is have a NIC? You may want to bump the ram up to atleast 512mb. I don't think you'll have any troubles playing media.

I don't actually have it yet, I'll have to wait a couple of days, so I can't be sure. If the VC doesn't have S-VHS or anything, then I'll just buy something like an AGP 9250.

I'm pretty sure it has integrated 10/100. I might want to get a wireless card though - don't want a bright blue cable running into the lounge room. Is 802.11n worth getting, or should i stick with 802.11g (extremeG - 108mbps)?

Is there any reason to buy DDR400 ram, since the FSB is only 333Mhz?

Also, would underclocking/undervolting reduce noise much? I'm pretty sure even a 2500+ is overkill for a media PC.

Anywayz, has anyone here used either of these cases?:
Thermaltake Tenor
Thermaltake Mystic
