You can get one of the newer generations, brand new, not 3G for 114$. My wife has owned the original 3G and the latest one non 3G. IMO you don't need the 3G and the newer one is significantly nicer than the 2nd generation. I would spend another 20 bucks and get the newer one.

i dont see why 3g would be necessary on these things either. youre not doing any type of internet on it, not even checking weather so just download what books you want at home and take them with. probably what people do anyway even if they have 3g in their ereader.

You can browse the web on the Kindle3 (3rd generation); it has a web browser that works fairly well (color images are shown in many shades of gray scale). The browser allows you to switch to the widescreen view while browsing. The latest firmware for Kindle3 all versions (v3.1) also adds some tie-in functionality to Facebook and Twitter but I have not used it as of yet. You can read about it here:
