2nd DVI Output - No Video

Hi all,

I'm dealing with an eVGA 7600GT with dual DVI outputs which I've had for one year. Today one of the DVI outputs stopped working, not just in the OS but even from system power on.

The problem occurred today just after I upgraded to the newest version of Ubuntu (I am multi-booting Vista and XP). However, I can't imagine how that would have affected the video output on a system level, since it won't work in the BIOS or in any other OS.

I also installed a new set of 1 GB x2 G.Skill RAM today, to replace a bad set of 1 GB x2 Crucial Ballistix RAM. However, the DVI output did not stop working until much later.

I do tech support part-time, so I've tried all of the obvious things already: reseated video card, checked all connections, tried each monitor individually on both DVI outputs (they both work on one port, but neither work on the other), tried one stick of ram at a time, used different RAM slots, and used different sizes and brands of RAM.

Just wanted to see if any of you had some insight on this problem, because I've exhausted my own technical knowledge and scoured Google with no solutions yet. If all else fails, I have been meaning to purchase a DX10 card soon anyway; I just hate to junk a card that (may) be fine.

Thank you for any information.

Bump -

Would there be any possibility that installing the restricted nVidia drivers in Ubuntu would have caused a change in the hardware of the video card itself? It seems far fetched, but perhaps it could have modified the firmware someway?
