just got a pioneer dvdrw a06. what would be a better 2nd drive to add on, a 52x cdrw or a dvd-rom? what are the benefits of one over the other? for people with dvd-rw drives, what do you have as your second drive? thanks for your info!

get a cd-rw/dvd-rom combo. they're widely available and pretty cheap nowadays. check out the lite-on brands.

Why do you need another drive? The A06 can do everything. Unless 16X CD-R and 10X CD-RW isn't fast enough for you, then grab a LiteOn 52X CD-RW to go with it. All of the DVD/CDRW combo drives that I've seen don't burn much faster than the A06 can.

i'd suggest a cd-rw/dvd-rom combo to extend the life of his dvd burner. use the combo drive to do all cd-r/w recording and dvd playback, and use the dvd burner primarily for burning dvds. also, a combo drive will allow him to do dvd-to-dvd, or even cd-to-cd copying. its definitely worth it and will only set you back $40-50.
