2nd core temp is ALWAYS 41c

So I put together an HTPC, using an Antec NSK2408 witha E7300 CPU and a ninja scynthe mini heatsync.

I'm getting great temps, using only passive cooling on the heatsink, my idle temp is about 37. At full load, it goes to about 47.

The problem i'm experiencing is the 2nd core temp is ALWAYS 41c, immediately at startup and under idle and under full load. I've searched google and cant find anything about this, I've used two different programs and both report the same.

Any ideas?

I have some what the same problem with a pentium D 915 pressler, reported core zero temps move all over the place under load, while core1 temps, according to the sensor only move in the 30 to 35 C range.
I have called intel and they say the chip or the sensor is defective is the differences in core temp exceed 15C. And mine does and yours does not exceed that 15 C difference.

just to make sure.. open task manager click on the performance tab and verify that under cpu usage history you have a split graph each graph showing each cores usage.

What temp monitoring program are you using? If its speed fan then the readings you are getting may not be right if it hasn't been configured for your board correctly. Any application that shows a temp that doesn't change regaurdless of the load is not getting the right information.

Xarick: yes i have two graphs

mpilch: I've used rmclock and HWMonitor - I'll admit it did go to 42c once....but went back to 41 pretty quickly.
