2'nd build and cant load OS

:shocked: Help, I have just put together new build and can't get OS to load,AMD XP 7850 Black Edition, ECS A780GM-A MB, OCZ Fatal1ty PC 8500 DDR2 1066 MHz (2X2048),Visiontek Radeon HD 3650 OC Ed. 1GB PCIe ,WD5001AALS HDD,530W Rosewill PS., have tried different HD, 2 different optical drives for OS CD,changed SATA jumpers, removed 1 stick of memory, changed slots,and it locks up with 34 minutes left ( Installing Devices) , 2 different windows xp cd's, the only thing that hasn't been changed is the chip or the MB, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!,
 
did you try disabling unneeded mobo features? perhaps it's crashing while trying to install the onboard sound, or a usb controller or some such.
 
you got the sound, lan, usb plus anything else but sata and ide controllers?

you shouldn't have to flash the bios on a board before even installing an OS, but you could try that. if that fails and you've got everything out of the computer except the HDD, CD, and one stick of memory, i'd look at sending the mobo back.

Could be your PSU...
 
I'm thinking it's the CPU. More precisely, the HSF should be cleaned and re-seated with new thermal compound. The first half of install works cuz text mode is just loading up into RAM, so the CPU isn't really getting taxed yet.
 
Finally got all to load by disabling everything possible in BIOS, now mouse (USB) wont work any longer than about 30 minutes ,
I'm now wondering if it may be memory (OCZ Fatal1ty 2X2048 PC 1066) related (voltage setting ?) This board has M.I.B. BIOS and am not all that famaliar with changing settings on voltages for memory I've been able to load drivers for MoBo and PCI-E card, so I am not so sure that it is MoBo, any thoughts ???
