Wait for the next nvidia cards (9800GX2?)

Wait for the next set of Intel processors (Jan 20th?)

Get 4 gigs of ram

2k is a lot of money.

Must have graphics, huh? Good suggestion unless you plan to print out every frame of the game you're playing and read it like a flip-book.

Read some of the articles on the main site, read some of the 29387593487538963 build threads in this forum and then fill in Blain's stickied template thread in this OP.

Do a little research and we'll make suggestions on what you've come up with so far. We're not a custom-build company you're going to have to do a little work for yourself.

Sure... I've heard that one before.
Run an ear-bleeding Delta fan and we'll see if you still "don't care about noise"

GX2, 9600GT, and 8800GS should be out next month. GX2 will be an awome card, but i have a feeling it's going to run absurdly hot. Their new single card high-end solution (to replace the 8800 ultra) should be out this summer.

You may be better off running a pair of ATI 3870s on a CF mobo.

Plus, is there any word about power requirements?

I think you'll need a nuclear reactor to get that monster going.

That's what everybody says about soon-to-be-released video cards

Really? If so, cool. :)

A question hampster, what PSU do you have on that 8800GT? I think that's gonna be my next upgrade... so cheap and so fast.

MegaVovan, I guess I'm stuck with images of that humongous 7950GX2. That did draw quite a bit of power, didn't it?

as of right now the best bang for buck is a 8800gt/512 card, but i think new nvidia cards are coming out very soon - i think less than a month (not 100% sure on the timeline) then in theory that should drop the current cards in $$ and possibly give a better bang for buck, so if you can wait i would.

I've got a 650w CoolerMaster Real power Pro on it. It's incredibly overkill, but i got a decent deal on it and I hope to use it for years and years to come.

The card is great. I was absolutely blown away by the performance difference compared to my overclocked 8600GTS.
