you havent answered my question. how do you know its the official release? theres no notice on MS's page. just because MS is hosting it doesnt necessarily make it the official release does it?

Hi,

Only that I accidently got on the Corp site the other day and DL'd what I thought was beta, but after install, no beta /build Number. It simply read SP3. When I checked, was advised this would likely be the final.

This file is the same build as the Corp one the other day.

The page will come-up however, so best to wait if you're uncomfortable. Completely understandable.

That's the same thing that's in XP sp1 beta. It's supposedly a by-product of the anti-trust suit. It will let you select other than M$ products to be the default applications. BFD, you already can do this with everything anyway.


EDIT: I'm getting it at 170 kbps (max for my connection) at 6:30 PM PST. Either the site's not getting hammered (yet - maybe because this link isn't posted all over the place?) or they've got some great bandwidth.

Getting a solid 340KB/sec on my connection... that probably wouldn't be much more than 100KB/sec once it's finally posted on Microsoft's site.
