Just set up a 2k server with 3GB of ram, have a 7GB part. I want to use for the pagefile but it limits me to a pagefile size of 4095mb. Anyway around this without splitting up the pagefile?

With 3GB of RAM, you don't need a pagefile that large.
1GB would do just fine.

I'm also trying to figure out why you want a pagefile that large, if you had that much paged it would probably make access quite slow. But to answer your question I think you would have to split up your pagefile on differant volumes.

Does the system support more physical memory?

2k Server supports up to 4 GB. Could I physically install more, yes I could get bigger sticks as all slots are filled with 512mb sticks. Does M$ themselves not reco pagefile xs2?

Figure just in case Oracle is getting a bit choked up, it has somewhere to go.

I did a quick search on MSFT's site and couldnt find anything documenting this either way. I did find documentation indicating that Win NT 4 doesnt allow more than a single 4GB page file on a volume (but of course we already knew that...).

Good Luck!

Yeah, not only that bro, but on the SAME server as the ERP application. I bitched and screamed for them to at least seperate the APp server from the Oracle server, but to NO avail (software vendor wont support it). Now u know why I want to have a BIG pagefile for an extra cushion for all those Orphaned oracle threads and sh!t.

Thanx, I actually found that yesterday and tried to bypass the folder part by just changing the registyr to a larger value, but windows wouldnt except it. I guess that is the only way I am going to be able to pull it off for now.
thanks again.

MS wouldn't have had to come up with that workaround if it was possible to use >4G pagefiles. They used a single 32-bit int for indexes in the pagefile and now it's biting them in the ass, anyone know if Win2K3 has the same problem?
