2K Sports announced today that they will give away an unprecedented cash prize in the amount of $1,000,000 to the first person who throws a verified perfect game in Major League Baseball® 2K10, the next iteration of the popular Major League Baseball® 2K series, prior to May 2, 2010. The special contest, available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft through the Xbox LIVE® online entertainment network and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system through the PlayStation®Network*, illustrates 2K Sports’ dedication to delivering vastly improved gameplay and pitching mechanics this season in Major League Baseball 2K10.
“You don’t see too many perfect games thrown in MLB 2K, but we’ve seen it happen,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing at 2K Sports. “Our goal is to celebrate and highlight Major League Baseball 2K10’s superior pitching and hitting mechanics this season, while also giving one of our loyal fans the thrilling opportunity to be rewarded with a lot of money.”
“Every baseball fan knows pitching a perfect game is one of the most difficult and rarest accomplishments in all of sports, and that’s what makes this million dollar contest so compelling,” said Evan Longoria, All-Star third baseman for the Tampa Bay Rays and cover athlete for Major League Baseball 2K10. “This is the chance of a lifetime, and I’m excited to see fans really try to go for it in Major League Baseball 2K10. I just hope they don’t try against the Rays, because my teammates and I aren’t going to make it easy on them.”
Fans will be able to participate in the $1,000,000 Major League Baseball 2K10 contest beginning on March 2, 2010 at 12:01 AM PST, and ending on May 1, 2010 at 11:59 PM PDT. To compete, gamers must play in MLB Today mode, select from any of the available matchups, and then choose the option to participate in the ‘Major League Baseball 2K10 contest’ that will automatically default to the proper gameplay settings according to the official gameplay rules. Entries must be recorded via camera or digital video recorder in compliance with guidelines provided by 2K in the Official Rules, and all eligible entrants must submit a copy of their recording in its entirety for verification. Submissions will only be accepted on DVD. To ensure accuracy in the verification and submission process, 2K Sports has partnered with Twin Galaxies International, the worldwide authority on video game world records, and provider of scores to Guinness World Records that are published in the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition. Hmm... they don't make it easy for one to record the evidence. Setting up a video camera and filming the screen is going to be a pain to keep up for every game you play. Sure you will obviously use a tripod, but just pausing when u go to take a piss, rewinding and recording over or using new tapes, and if you mess up you might as well restart that game.

A Perfect game like it is in real life.

1 pitcher. No hits, no walks. 27 batters up, 27 batters down.

Doesn't matter how they go down. strike out, ground out, fly out etc.
 
Knowing the MLB 2k series up to this point, they probably should have spent the $1m on making a better game, not on a contest 😛
 
If someone gets to first base on a dropped third strike and then gets picked off or the next guy gets into a double play, is it still a perfect game?

No, it would be an error thus, not perfect.

It would however, still be a no hitter at that point. Because errors do not count as hits.
