2GHz Xeon benchmarks

Diable

Senior member
Amazon International has posted SPEC Viewperf results for the new 2GHz Xeon. They also tested a 1.7GHz Xeon and 1800+ MP. Also check out the system spec for the two machines they used, badass or what?

I like this quote 🙂

On a final note, so yes the P4 Xeon 2GHz is here and has recovered a slight lead in certain areas but, around the corner hot on its heels is AMD's 1900+ MP. Think carefully we won't say anymore and let you all decide, so watch how you spend your monies.

Diable, I see you put a brown bag over your face. 🙂

Anyway, how much is this Xeon 2GIG? Will it work in any "over the counter" m/b?

Dual Intel P4 Xeon 2.0GHz on a Tyan 2603 mainboard, 2GB PC800 ECC Reg memory Samsung Original, ELSA Gloria III (Driver Release 22.80), Seagate Cheetah 15K. Windows XP Professional Direct X 8.1

I think bad ass is an understatement.......

Xeons run on another chipset (i860)? so they wont work in any std P4 board

"Xeons run on another chipset (i860)?"

Thanks Damocles, I didn't bother reading the article or results.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Intel P4 Xeon 2.0GHz = £400.00
MP 1900+ = £256.00

According to that same website, so it looks like Intel aren't providing a very cost-effective solution.

"400 MHz system bus capability Delivers a balanced system matching the system bus BW of 3.2 GB/s with the memory bus of 3.2 GB/s. Dual 64-bit 66 MHz I/O. AGP4X 1 GB/s of graphics bandwidth allows highest graphics performance on IA platforms. Dual RDRAM channels Maximum memory performance (3.2 GB/s)."

^^^^ Money talks, BS walks.

Yep, they wont work in a standard P4 motherboard because they have a different pin count(603vs478 and 423)then regular P4's. Mats, I changed to the bag because I'm in hiding. 😉

Not to mention the Xeon's are like 10X's larger than a regular FCPGA Pentium III.... :Q
