2GB x 2 and 1GB x 2 at the same time?

I recently bought an Acer C720 with 2GB of SDRAM. I noticed it has two open BGA slots, and two full with the 1GB modules. I'm not very comfortable removing BGA modules and affixing new ones, but I am comfortable enough to add two new modules. If I were to add two 2GB modules to the open slots, would I have 6GB of usable memory or just 4GB?

While I'm at it, does anyone know of a good place to buy BGA memory? Haven't had much success yet.

Some motherboards can be stubborn on what kind of RAM capacity sticks you use in the RAM slots. My current Dell laptop has a 2 GB stick and a 1 GB stick and it works. As for where you can buy BGA memory, have you tried eBay?

I seriously doubt you can do that. Chances are it would only work the same chips as are making it 2GB, even if you could get new chips soldered in.

Seems like I need to find some kind of documentation for my motherboard or talk to someone who has experience with it.

Haven't tried eBay yet, but I did find what I need on AliExpress.

Assuming I need to have four of the same chip for it to work, why couldn't I just add two more of the exact same 1GB chips and have 4GB total? Why do you think I won't be able to solder new chips in?

I appreciate the response, I'd just like to understand your reasoning better.
