2gb vs 1gb?

does 2gb really dramatically increase performance at super high resolutions like 1920x1200? For like fear and COD2 will i notice a difference?

Yes, Battlefield 2 is a prime example of this...at high settings a lot of hitching would occur in the game while using 1 gb. I got 2 gb and the performance increase was noticeable.

To put it simply...yes.

I have yet to fire up my Opty system with 2gb and am currenty running on 1gb, but from reading a lot and knowing alot, 2gb is faster.

i have 2x 256mb 1x 512mb of premium xms ram. I would be switching to 2gb corsair value ram. Is it still worth it?

oh god yes....

I am currently only on a 1gb setup and I cannot join matches with more than 40 people. If I do, I get sta sta sta sta sta stutter!

other than that, I have found no justification for having 2GB atm.

With that said, I am lookin for a good OCZ EL 2x1GB DC deal.... lol.

If your located in Canada, check www.canadacomputers.com

just picked up a Set of 2GB OCZ EL 2x1GB DC for $319 + tax CDN

Battefield 2 alone big difference, but I even notice abit of a difference in CS Source with full servers. Everything in general runs better.

Same here. I was perfectly happy with 1G of memory. Until I bought Battlefield 2. After upgrading to 2G, the game ran MUCH smoother. Definitely worth the upgrade. Of course, everything else pretty much runs exactly like it did before.

So if you don't play some of the games that really need the extra memory, it won't be worth it. If you do, it is the ONLY way to go!

$319 CDN?!! Awesome!

I am gonna get the change out of my couch and order right now... lol. Sorry... I had to.

No, really thanks for the deal tip. I will more than likely get it from there.

Your memory dandwidth will vary on the same system depending on if you have 2 or 4 sticks. If you can go with 2 x 1024 as 4x512 will run slower

Try runing BF2 on 512mb. I'm just happy to be at 1gb now 😛

2gb soon. As soon as FedEx and UPS finish delivering the parts... 🙂

Yes, there is definately a huge, and more importantly appreciable, difference between 1GB and 2GB of RAM.

Loading time sure improved in all game. And stopped hitching in games like Quake 4, and FEAR.

Affirmative on all above counts.

Yes, but only if you can sell your current RAM for a decent price, IMO.
