What is the best ram to get 2GB (2x1GB sticks) of. I'm looking in the range of $180-$220. I would much prefer the $180 side as I'm going to be picking up an X2 soon and they're not cheap, but I can stretch. I would like some headroom for oc depending on what kind of OCs actual users of X2 3800+ owners are getting. Thanks for any advice.

I'd do a quick search of the entire forum. I've seen this asked a few times now. I'm not flaming you or anything just saying that recently (last few days) I've seen a few people post this same question with lots of great answers/replies from very knowledgeable people.

You never want to use cheap Corsairs. You will be crying with your DFI board.

I just booted up after about 10 tries of pressing the power button. My first attempt failed miserably. Second time worked, but could not get it to boot once more until I fiddled with more things. DFI is just a lot of gambling, and with a lot of work you can get it to work...

I'm memtesting my OCZ VXes right now

I just got 2x1gb of the corsair VS but ive heard it doesnt play well with the DFI.

That ram has huge compatibility issues.

Ive had huge problems getting it to work in the rig in sig, and my Dell 400SC (Intel I875) wont even post with it.

I wouldnt reccomend it to anyone.

Thats what I am using. They were only $107 when I bought, guess they must be following gas prices..

Im only running a mild OC @ 210, but so far I am very happy with them.

I dont know about the 1 gig sticks but my system has 4 of the 512meg sticks of the VS and those babies rock! I have the 2.5 cas version. They even OC a little bit. Havent had a system crash yet.

I'm using the Patriot 1GB sticks myself and am having trouble OC'ing a 3700+ San Diego. The memory is VERY picky about timings when overclocking, and it CANNOT do 1T at even 208 MHz.

I haven't totally isolated my problems to the RAM yet, but it's either that or the PSU. My 3700+ San Diego is maxing out at 2.5 right now, which really stinks.

Dunno about 1T, I've got a Xeon system.
