Keep in mind XP-32bit isn't going to be able to fully support 4gb. Best case senario you'll get 3.25gb.

Okay since this thread ain't going away.....Ummm....what type of work do you do on your computer? CAD? Crunch numbers? Gaming? Web surfer? How much memory you need will depend on the tasks at hand. And honestly, anything over 2 gigs is probably a waste anyways.

i've gone over the 2gb limit once, and that's because i was burning 2 dvds from 2 dvd-rw's (each with a physical hdd for source), and encoding from divx to dvd on a 3rd hdd, while having a lot of stuff running in the background (photoshop, azureus (the memory hog), other dvd transcoding programs, etc...)

GAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Big B = bytes.
Little b = bits.

Good luck doing anything with that anemic amount of memory.

I wonder how this world is.

I remmeber going from 512mb laptop to 1gb desktop.

Then I jumped to 2gb and it was day and night in certain games and Vista. I can't imagine jumping to 4gb...
