2GB or 3GB?

My dad want to up the ram on his MacBook Pro. It supports up to 3GB, but in order to take advantage od dual-channel, you have to get matching modules.

My question is, wich is better? 2GB in dua-channel (2x1GB) or 3GB in single channel (1x2GB+1x1GB)?

I have a MacBook Pro (2.13 ghz 15") and have maxed out the ram. The advantage of dual-channel speed (1-2% real world gain) over an extra gig of ram for OSX is non-existent. OSX's memory manager will happily use whatever ram you have to the best of its ability, which means the more ram, the better the computer will perform. I have XP running in Parallels and it is highly dependent on ram for decent performance.

Forget the dual channel, just get as much ram as you possibly can.
