2GB memory recommendations for K8N-E or 8KDA3+

Hi all. I'm getting ready to order my new system. It will either be the Asus K8N-E (likely, I want the onboard firewire, and like Asus) or the Epox 8KDA3+. This will be coupled with a A64 3200+. I have no plans to overclock.

I'd like to get 1GB initially, and go to 2GB in the future. (I do a lot of video/audio editing). I'm fearing the 'double sided RAM' issues with the Athlon 64.

What are my best options to get RAM, either initally 2x512 and an additional 1GB later, or simply a 1GB now and another 1GB later on? I'm worried about compatibility with 3 slots loaded.

Stability is most important, since I won't be overclocking.

thanks for any help.

I would go with the 1GB module and add a second 1GB module later. Brand-wise, I would get Corsair XMS or Crucial. Either way, plan to bump your memory voltage from Auto to 2.6V at least.

Is there a performance penalty if you only have one module? I'm building a similar system and have the same goal, stability, but that being said the reason for the new system is improved performance.
