I have 1gb of 533MHz RAM in my computer. I want to upgrade to 2 gigs. Should i buy one more stick of 533, or trash the 533 altogether and just go with 2 new stick of 800. I dont want to go any higher than 800, to pricy. I play games mostly. How much of a performance increase would i actually see with 800 over 533. It would be alot cheaper to just buy one more of 533, but i am willing to go the extra mile if neccessary.
Thanks
EDIT: I just remembered that one i have right now is 2 512 sticks of 533. Since my mobo has 4 RAM slots and RAM has to be added in pairs, if i filled up the slot with 512 sticks now, i would then have to trash all of them as apposed to just adding 2 more 1Gb sticks. What now?

Not much of a difference between 533 and 800 sticks.. Those sticks are made for O/C in most of the cases..Let alone the pricey 1000 sticks..
My advice is stick with your 533 and buy one more.. Cheap upgrade,useful(2gb will help you more) and save some money for the future..

If you're overclocking, get some 667 or 800Mhz memory and resell your 533.

If you're not overclocking at all, 533 makes NO difference at all (not anything noticable anyway).

go with the 533. You'll notice the performance increase with games. As for the difference between 2 gigs or 800 verses 2 gigs for 533. Only bench marks will tell the difference. I doubt you could tell any difference in real time gaming.
