I'm looking for a very basic video card for my work computer. It's for strictly 2d applications, no 3d gaming, but I need it to be very stable and cool for 8+ hours of use every day. Also I want to go with a pretty large 24" monitor, maybe 26". I heard some video cards cannot run the larger 26"+ monitors. Thanks.

Welcome to AT! First post and a reasonable question.

Someone posted a $20 AR deal on a ATI 3450, that's more than enough for what you're talking about, 1920 Wide HD resolution. Will also do wonderfully with high-def video, consume very little power, and have no real weak spot for what you describe.

There's no such thing as some vid cards cannot run the larger monitors. That's only for gaming at acceptable FPS. Even many integrated graphics systems can run a 30in LCD. The amount of vid ram required actually required is minimal.
