My friend has this problem. Lemme start off by saying we opened his comp for the first time in a long time and it was covered in dust. The video card fan siezed up. We couldn't do anything so we cleared the dust and put it back together.
So he has been having this problem for a while even before we opened the computer. For example, on a white background where there should be text, the text is missing. Sometimes something is always missing on the screen. Icons also turn completely black sometimes with no color. In AIM for example, sometimes the text in the chats goes missing to yield a white space where there should be text.
The problem is sometimes things are missing from the screen, or discolored or corrupted, and it all seems to happen when multiple apps are open.
I am thinking the vid. card is overheating, what do you think?
Specs:
Athlon 1.2 - stock fan - normal temps
256 MB
ECS k7vza mobo (works FINE)
winfast GF2 MX
NOTHING overclocked
