Hi guys

I am starting to collect my thoughts on building my next pc.

My question is should I go down the ATX or BTX routes and if ATX, should I go PCIe? Incidently, are there going to be PCIe versions of BTX?

Yours comments would be appreciated.

Thx in anticipation

ATX and BTX are just the specs of which the mobos are made to. (Positioning of mounting holes, etc. etc.)
If you're just itching to upgrade, got PCI-E. The cards are cheaper since they don't have to add on a bridge chip.
BTX isn't gonna come for a while, even though Intel is pushing it.
All of the future is most likely gonna be PCI-E until the next spec comes out.

I doubt if you would be able to find any BTX mobo for now. (and you will need a special version of Pentium 4 if you indeed have a BTX mobo).

Go PCI-e unless you have a powerful AGP that you have to keep.

BTX isn't even worth thinking about right now. Don't bother planning your upgrades around it.

Do go with PCI-E if you are building a new system, however.

Personally, I'm not betting on BTX flying. The Taiwanese case manufacturers would need too much retooling, and there is little tangible benefit to the end user.

This isn't really the case. The manufacturers have a premium on PCI-e at the moment, probably due to manufacturing costs associated with a new interface.

What are you talking about. Are you saying that BTX requires a different CPU that ATX? I've never heard that. Link?
