Is that a typo? How can 16 core 2950x be 5 times faster than 8 core 1700x@4.0GHz at media encoding? These numbers do not make sense.
Not sure really, maybe it has something to do with linux not having scheduling issues with cores like Windows 10 does. I guess Threadripper and linux go together much much better then Threadripper and Windows 10.
What ever it is I am not complaining at all cause I have got a ton of encoding done this last couple days and have saved myself a bunch of time by going this route!!

I agree with that, I am not sure what how contamination is getting into the Enermax, sure is a shame since, 150 bucks is a lot of money.

The problem is, it could be the coolant liquid itself is somehow wrong mixture, or some metal chemical reaction that is causing it. Or maybe they didn't properly flush out the system before adding the liquid.... I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is, that the liquid is contaminated. Since if it was a metal type of contamination it would take longer than 3~6 months to get clogged with whatever seems to be growing in the loop.

Might be worth a try, to drain these things, take a soft toothbrush, and rubbing alcohol, and clean the fins ... I'd probably flush it out a few times with distilled water / alcohol mix and dry it out .... And then adding some sort of anti growth/corrosion to distilled water solution.

The pump went on the last one, and maybe more of them. I did not notice the light problem until this last one. This can't be fixed. Its just not worth it to me anymore to even mess with these. I am sick of changing them out ! 6-8 months on every one.

yeah, I don't know how many times I've mucked around with mine and wasting a lot of thermal paste... First two tries I thought I mounted it wrong... Was super glad to get rid of it when I got the air cooler....

Air cooling isn't as good, but definitely 100% better than an Enermax solution. I'll probably get a custom loop when I upgrade to a new system. I was thinking of selling my 1950x but it will make a good backup system. Probably be a few years... and I'm hoping for 5nm, with 128 cores or more! LOL The way AMD is innovating, I doubt I'll be dissapointed.
