So I had some troubles installing the kraken G10 + Corsair H55 on the gpu and decided to go back to the default cooler on my 290x (Asus Direct CU II OC) reapplied thermal paste and my temps are normal, but when I launch a game (Or I enable hardware acceleration on chrome and play youtube videos for a long time, few hours) the game crashes and when back on desktop the GPU usage is 100% no matter what (and temps correspondingly high) even when I close all program. Rebooting windows 7 solves the issue until I launch a game again. Tried reinstalling the driver and different versions but it seems to be doing the exact same thing: about 5 or so minutes of gameplay and usually when something happens in game (new area, new enemy, explosions, etc) the game freezes and crashes and its back on 100% usage until I reboot.
I am thinking that something went wrong and this is some kind of failure? I had no updates, no new programs installed at all, no bios updates, everything is the same except the swapping of the coolers but it was not smooth and I think I might have banged something. Can this be just a software issue or likely hardware?
