yes they were very loud at full throttle like tht video but ive been screwing around getting my over clocks just right and even after an hour of load over clocked to 845 MHz and 995 MHz it did not sound anything like that video. they are no louder than myx1900 cards were at load and if anything a more efficient heat pipe cooler so the fan doesn't need to run as high. they are very loud at max speed but ive yet to ever see it get anywhere near max even during heavy over clocking load.

Please post all your results Fern420 in a seperate thread of course . I'd like to see the newest driver results also .

will do. i im still tweaking with stuff and id like to mess with my cpu over clocks to a bit but its rock solid at 3.4 , its a good base to start over clocking the cads with. i was very impressed with the one card scores though in 3dmark 06, it was 12k and all my overcooking is pretty moderate. that was with the driver that came on the sapphire disc, i have not even tried the new ones yet. im hoping the new ones can help crossfire abit, im only pulling 15.5k in 06 with both cards.

That sounds pretty bad. I suppose it's still an improvement over their old X1800/1900 cooler though, which is not only loud but makes a very distinctive type of noise that can be recognized over all the other fans.

The spin up in 2d was a driver issue and is either solved or will be solved soon.

That said I find all computers loud - but do appreciate a good reviewer over trite junk like this.

Maybe you've never had a PC before built with silence in mind. My current rig uses NV 5 silencer at (100% fan speed), 1 zalman 120mm using zalman fanmate2 (at 1200 rpm), 1 nexus fan, and a zalman 7000b. All i can say is that its so quiet that sometimes I think the fan might've died or something. (The hard drive is the only thing you hear, only when it revs up though)

Silent PCs really feel awesome. High tech stuff that is whisper quiet at start and even at load is truly impressive to have or witnessed.

after playing 3 hours of battlefield 2 i do agree they are louder than my x1900's but when your wearing a headset its a nonfactor anyway.

Yep... I never got why people complain about sound... IF you buy a high end card, youll be playing games, if youre gonna be playing games, youll have the sound loud, if youre gonna have the sound loud, you dont hear the pc, WTF?

Some people dont use headsets. I use surround sound when playing games. How about watching videos? would you like your audience to start being irritated by the noise created by the PC during the climax? Sound will always be a factor, because theres always people out there that just dont like loud noise. A reason why some bought the 7900GTX instead of the X1900XT (or any card that used that ATi stock cooler).

i see where your coming from but if your gonna buy two 2900's you already have a media pc or blueray player. most people do not pop $800 bucks on video cards if they are watching movies on it and movies do not even send the gpu out of 2d clock speeds so the fan stays at the minimum level and both 2900's are pretty quiet when watching even a blue ray movie.

This is something I wish people would nain to their skulls and never forget. I said the same thing about my X1900XT
