What a piece of poor reviewing. Give us some db levels - should be enough. Stunts like using microphones placed by the case or wherever is garbage.

The spin up in 2d was a driver issue and is either solved or will be solved soon.

That said I find all computers loud - but do appreciate a good reviewer over trite junk like this.

If you think that's bad, it's still quieter than the x1900xt stock cooler. But at least the older card revved up more gradually based on temps, not like this one. NV30 FTL....

Wait for the refresh.

I disagree with that statement.

It's a very good option for some people.

Trite junk?

The fact that he took the to record the sound for us to examine is a sign of a well-detailed review.

Saying how loud it is in numbers doesn't convey nearly the same result.

Why do you think SPCR records the sound of the fans & PSUs, etc. they test?

Sounds like both of you are fanbois...one a green one, one red

Did you even bother to read the article? They did give the dB level. The spinup in 2D wasn't the relevant part of the page... it was the noise level when under load (3D). Honestly have no clue why you even bothered to post that message. Troll or a fanboy? I can't tell.

I can record anything and make it sound loud - in relation to something else. If they are having spin up issues - very easy to get a response from AMD - and work through the issue. These guys are lazy and stupid. That doesn't make the hd 2900xt good or bad, but this review is for gullable dummies.

edit: Yes the db level was somewhat relevant when compared with the system db level with a different card. Oh they didn't do that. They are stupid.

You're not making any sense.

There's not really much point comparing it to an 8800 series card, since the 8800 GTS/GTX/Ultra cooler is basically not audible unless you listen for it, unlike the HD 2900 XT.

I assume that's what you wanted to see it compared to?

I suggest you do your own review, since you obviously have far superior reviewing skillz

Those are some loud ass cards, even at its lowest is where my 8800 is at its highest noise.

Any computer is audible. If you compare the db at idle and load with sli 8800's on the same computer - than it gives a baseline. What they wrote is silly. If by accident they are right - many credible sources will confirm. Stating something is not audible unless you listen for it - is not great either, without some type of comparative measurement. What you may need to listen to hear, may be very intrusive to someone with more refined hearing.

Wow! That's frickin loud.

This is why I went with a 7950GT is a single slot cooler and very quiet.

Can't wait for a DX10 equivalent.

I'm sorry I didn't try to make people upset , I just thought it way funny he was using Jetway's.

A creative little review...

Thanks for the link, good to know how loud it gets. You might want to add a warning to your post though: "WARNING: Fanboy egos may be injured by the contents of this link."

Not only does the card underperform, but it's loud as hell and demands a lot of power.

A big

I am not partial to any company, but I am leaning towards Nvidia for my next upgrade for sure.

Why not go with the XGI Volari Z11? ;)

it honestly does not get that loud while loading games, im setting up my two new 2900's in crossfire as we speak and that video is very misleading. the only time i heard them sound like that was when powering on the system with no pci e connections hence it kicked the fans to the max, it doesn't sound anything like that when i load a game and barley sounds like half that while 3dmarking.

yes they were very loud at full throttle like tht video but ive been screwing around getting my over clocks just right and even after an hour of load over clocked to 845 MHz and 995 MHz it did not sound anything like that video. they are no louder than myx1900 cards were at load and if anything a more efficient heat pipe cooler so the fan doesn't need to run as high. they are very loud at max speed but ive yet to ever see it get anywhere near max even during heavy over clocking load.

Seeing as I havent heard the noise of an 8800 gtx either, have no way to compare it. If he wanted to make a convincing video hed run it on both machines to show the amount of noise difference.

And the best part :Q:

with total power consumption at around 2 W.

I think i'm gonna buy 8 for Octa-Fire :D

just got around to watching the video.... hey at least they quiet right back down... 7 series NVidia after exiting a game take a while to cool down and then the fans finally slow down.

video would have been cooler if the case started shaking and vibrating and then started to lift off the ground and hovered.
