I was checking video card prices and noticed New Egg no longer lists the 2900 Pro. Are we going to get another card, or whats going on?

I think it was well known before the release they were only a short term item. Clearing out 2900 GPU's to make way for rv670.

Looks like they shipped quite a few to the UK because you can still order them from OverclockersUK, even if you're from the US. If you place your order over the phone, you just have to make sure you ask them not to charge the VAT. They have a couple of different 2900 Pros right now. The Powercolor for $280 USD and a Sapphire on sale for $275 USD. If you have to return the card they'll refund the $20 shipping charge.

And before I get pounced on. I didn't say this was a good deal.

I Got the sapphire last week before they ran out... running nicely @800/1000

I'd like a second to go crossfire.. just dont know if i need it.

Does anyone know if it will do crossfire on the Abit IP35 Pro? Im sure its a driver issue.. i jumped to soon on this IP35 Pro shoulda waited for the IX38:brokenheart:

P35 boards will run crossfire, but the second card will be limited to 4x bandwidth.

x16/x4 CrossFire doesn't make much sense. I mean, if you were going to use these power-hogging GPUs (TWO of them), you might as well make the most out of it. And, no, I don't think you need a 2900 CrossFire for anything.

unless you want >15fps in nwn2...

there will be a loss for using 16x/4x in xfire, but it should be similar to running an 8x/8x setup.

Thanks for the info.. but the P5E allows 16x2?

Yes or no? I just noticed this board the other day and not long after shelling out for a IP35 Pro.. like the pro tho so far.

all x38 mobos are full dual 16x for xfire. that's one of the biggest selling points. Of course, I haven't seen one within $100 of the ip35 pro, either...

on a side note, has anybody seen some real comparison benchmarks with a 16x/4x p35 vs a 16x/16x x38? I'm curious to see what the actual performance penalty is.

The 1 GB Sapphire 2900pro is back in stock at Newegg if anyone missed out last time. Just picked one up to replace my 7900GTO.

Excellent. But now the 8800 GT is about to be released. Arh, decisions, decisions.

$357 seems like way too much money to spend right now on an R600, even a 1GB 2900 XT (we'll call it an XT for argument's sake). Think about it, you can save over $100 and get a unit that will have similar/better performance from ati or nvidia in a couple of weeks, plus the newer cards will use less power, run cooler, and take up less space.
