Hey,

I am going to sell my 2900pro 512 bit to my friend for 100 $. Is this a fair price, or am I charging too much? Keep in mind he really hates Mail In Rebates :p

Yeah its not bad. Not the greatest but not bad. Though eventually he might have to buy aftermarket cooling so keep that in mind.

No, the thing keeps pretty cool b/c of dual slot cooler. You just have to use Rivatuner and manually control the fan speed. It never goes over 64 C with fan set to 65%. I just checked out Newegg and answered the question for myself- its a pretty good deal. I can't find another card that rivals it within 30 dollars- an 8800GS for 129.99.

Yours is a 2900xt .. just up the speeds .. cooling is already good ..
i have a 2900p at 2900xt speeds and a 2900xt in Xfire .. and my pro is 256bit/512MB.. i would have paid you over $100 for your 512bit pro [a few months ago]

you friend will need a good 550w PS for XT speeds, however - with 30a on the 12v rail; not overclocked its power requirements are modest

Yeah I got him an Ultra X-pro 600 watt with 36 amps on the 12v so it is good. BTW, what program do you personally use to overclock your 2900Pro?

I used Rivatuner for overclocking my 2900Pro. I have my core at 800mhz, and it runs much cooler then I thought it would. I haven't touched the memory speed, I'm sure 1.6ghz / 512bit bus provides more then enough bandwidth for the core. In my acrylic case I have yet to see the temps go over 68C. I'm using a 550watt Antech Neopower. $100 is a good price!

unless i am mistaken it is the *same* memory that the XT uses - it is severely underclocked .. but the core speed does make the most difference .. you might start to get into trouoble over 800Mhz .. that is when my temps starts to rise; i usually leave it at 800mhz and my 2900xt at 850Mhz .. little performance difference; at the same speeds, the XT runs runs hotter; the Pro is almost 20C less until it is at 850Mhz

i prefer CCC for CrossFire options .. but it limits my Pro to 800Mhz on the core unless i flash it to XT [but finding a 256bit XT BIOS is tough; you may have to edit a 512-bit BIOS :p].
