According to information posted on VR-Zone, the Radeon HD 2900 GT should be launching on the 8th of October, that's in 10 days time people.

The price is meant to be as low as US$199 which sounds almost too good to be true, but considered the crippled features of the card it's probably about right.

What we're not so sure about it their claim that the entire 2900 lineup of cards will be discontinued by the end of October, even though the RV670 is meant to appear within the next couple of months.

Pretty decent speeds considering

We've already reported about the Radeon HD 2900 GT's memory interface and the fact that it has less stream processors and we've now got the missing piece of the puzzle, the clock speeds.

The stock clock speeds are actually identical to the Radeon HD 2900 Pro, with the core at 600MHz and the memory at 800MHz or 1,600MHz effectivly.

So no real big news there, but the card will at least initially retain the two power connectors that the 2900 series has so far and this might allow for some decent overclocking.

There might be different board designs at a later stage, but we very much doubt it, unless AMD tries to cut cost or starts to sell the chips on their own.
