290 CF, underclocking not working with Trixx?

Running 290 CF as in sig. 16.2 drivers for ethereum mining. Whenever I try to lower clocks with trixx, I hit apply, and GPUz detects the change, but when I actually test it at load the actual clocks remain the same. The card monitor in trixx also shows regular clocks, despite being set lower.

Trying to underclock a bit for better stability for both games and mining. Any ideas?

Have you tried reducing the power limit? I had this exact problem when using the standard AMD settings to try and underclock my tri-x. For whatever reason you can't directly set an underclock like you can an overclock, you have to play about with the power limit slider until it underclocks itself to where you want. Makes sense eh?

Ok thanks for the heads up, I noticed that kind of works, but I have no direct control over clocks. I would like to decrease the memory speed for instance, when mining, to around 1250.

I'll keep playing around.

You are right, the Radeon settings overdrive controls won't underclock either. I suppose there must be some settings for ethminer that can control clocks for that program. I'll try looking those up.

Might be worth trying MSI Afterburner, I found it applied underclock/undervolt as you'd expect (restart is sometimes needed for it to set properly). I did run into this annoying issue with it where shortly after changing the settings the display would blank out, which then rendered it impossible to the change the setting back to fix it, and if it was set to run at startup rebooting wouldn't work either. Had to boot in safe mode and uninstall it to fix the problem. Afterburner definitely offers more power over changing things but that comes with the risk of being easier to mess up.

Hmm, I suppose I could give it a try then. I remember that issue lol, so I know not to use it on startup :p

I could not get afterburner to underclock either. :C
