2700ddr vs 3200ddr

HI

I have been putting off building a computer for over 6 months. Back then I bought 2 sticks of 512mb of crucial 2700ddr to build a pentium dual channel intel computer. What would be the difference between running one stick of 3200ddr memory versus running dual 512mb 2700ddr sticks? This computer is gonna be used for my office, no gaming/ocing

thanks

Make sure you can run asynchronously with 2x 2700 on a P4C first though. The P4C's bus generally calls for a 3200. I'm not sure if you can easily make it async with all motherboards. My nForce 2 board does let me run my processor at one bus and the ram at another though.

865/875 mobo can run pc2700 just fine with a 800 fsb cpu. they have mem deviders.

I run pc2700 with a 2.4C at 3ghz with ram at 166mhz & it runs very well.

FSB at 250mhz with mem at 166 using the 3:2 mem devider. 🙂

In order to run 1:1 though, you need the pc3200. If you run using the divider, you will take a performance hit of sorts but maybe not that big in real world applications.
