Comparison of the three:

My question is if it is worth spending the $50 more for the Asus or $100 more for the updated HaansG. I LOVE a good deal so if you guys give the blessing for the HaansG I will get it. However, I also do not mind spending $50 more or $100 for a big quality increase.

Please help I'd like to purchase this by tomorrow otherwise I will sit and wait with my 22" iiyama CRT

I'm not familiar with any of the above monitors, but go for a true 2~3ms black display level over that of 2~3ms gray level if that is possible. And, look for high cd/m2 if you are going to use it in a well lit place. Some people scoff at anything less than 800:1 contrast ratio but IMHO anything 400:1 and above is more than adequate, unless you have eyes problem.

I would go for 1920x1200 which eliminate the Asus, and it is up to you if $90 different is worth it between 400 cd/m2 & 500 cd/m2.

My iH-282HPB 28" Widescreen Active Matrix TFT Display that came yesterday work perfectly fine out of the box with no dead pixel, but I have to dial down the default brightness setting by 25% and contrast by 5%, and I didn't have to calibrate the colour because it passed my colour test perfectly. It cost me $270 CAD and came to a total of $333 CAD after tax ++ shipping and insurance. It is similar to the Hanns HZ281HPB, but I-Inc is rated at 84W with 2 HDMI connections instead of the Hanns 95W/100W & 1 HDMI connection.

PS. The built in speakers sounds like crap. I much prefer my old trusty 2.1 Altec Lansing.

Get the ASUS because it is built with higher quality parts then a unknown new brand like hans solo.. lol

Yeah! made in Taiwan like the rest of the quality stuffs.

I'm not saying that Taiwan/Chinese made bad stuff, but IMHO the parts are mostly the same parts from manufacture to manufacture, however the different are the quality tolerance level is what set one manufacture over the other. Asus may have higher tolerance level than newer unknow brands but they are not susceptible from having lemons or one that was build 5 minutes before quiting time on Friday.

I have the Hanns-G HZ281HPB 27.5 about 1 year now.I doubt i will ever sell it or want to.What seems important that's not mentioned,is your planned use of the monitor.$Good choice for budget minded.

Great for gaming.Simple put, games look great on it and no blur in fps.

Poor for viewing movies.Dark scenes suck, but i imagine at this price point,it may not be alone.

Speakers can be turned off.

Great all purpose general use.Text looks crisp.

Color accuracy.Decent.

I have the Hanns-G 281HPB at home. First one burned out in a year and had to RMA it. The replacement came and it had backlight bleeding (the first one didn't) and a dead pixel. It's almost a year old now. They also have a problem going into power saver mode until you put it into "PC mode" which is pretty funny since you can't get into the menu until you plug it into a non-PC... Other than that, I've been happy with it. Nothing fancy, but works fairly decently.

I'm on the fence in regards to recommending one to someone. I haven't been 100% satisified, but you get what you pay for... For the size and price, you can't really complain. But if you would rather spend a few extra bucks for maybe some better reliability, you may want to check out the Asus.

My 28" Hanns G came with one pixel stuck on red. I ran a web page that flashed pixels on and off quickly, looked like TV snow if anybody remembers that, and it was fixed after about 20 hours. Other than that I really like this monitor. The colors are good, it's incredibly bright and once I put my own stand on it everything was perfect. I could easily recommend my Hanns G to others.

Edit: mine is HZ281HPB
