27" Monitor

I am looking for a 27" 2560x1440, but don't know what to get.

Dell Ultracrap are out of the question with their current QC issues.
Asus seem to have QC issues of their own judging from Amazon reviews.
LG customer service could NOT tell me what are the difference with between all the stock numbers for the 27ea83 and only have 1 year warranty.

From what I know, with my U2713HM, I mainly had Yellow light bleed issues, that's it. That had to do with the casing of the monitor and not the actual panel itself. I sent my original back and got a replacement which works great.

there is also the HP one, as an alternative to dell. ZR2740W. I believe it got a great review by AT.

I just got my Dell U2713HM recently. Revision A01. Price $505 shipped (sweet deal).

When I first tested it, I laid it flat on my carpet and had it connected to my laptop. No dead or stuck pixels whatsoever. It showed some horrid yellow light bleeding issues but that was because of laying it on the carpet.

After putting it on the stand and setting it up properly, I had minimal backlight bleeding, no dead/stuck pixels. Pressing the bezel around the actual panel will relieve the yellow backlighting so it is an issue with the bezel pressing into the panel.

While I'm happy with my monitor, it's inexcusable for a monitor which many pay $600-700 for to have this kind of issue. Dell's warranty may be very good on the Ultrasharp monitors but customers prefer not to have to use it.

I purchased an Achieva Shimian Lite for @$335 (2560 x 1440) and it is great. Bare bones with only on/off but gorgeous color. Obviously the panels used are the same as Apple except some quality control feature wasn't met. I have had not problem with it. However, warranty is a crap shoot.

With an $800 budget you probably would ignore these monitors. Perhaps I got lucky.

I am using the same exact model you are talking about, works great and got a cheaper price too.

I have loved my ASUS PB278Q. Wouldn't want to go back to my 24" 120hz TN panel at all. It is great for gaming as well and love the color.
