LG M2762D-PM Glossy Black 27" 5ms HDMI Widescreen LCD TV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 50000:1
This one has DVI input in addition to other inputs, uses 55watts max (compare to 70 watss max for Hannspree) It also weights only 15.9lbs (vs 23lbs for Hannspree). Has three year warranty (vs 1 year for Hannspree) However, it costs $70 more.

Both monitors support 60hz referesh rate. I couldn't find any computer/HDTV monitor that supports 120 hz or higher refresh rate.

Which (and why) of these two would you buy? Would it be better if I just buy a 28-32 inches LED-LCD HDTV with 120hz refresh rate and use it as a computer monitor and TV combo? Do I need a dual-link DVI output in order for my computer to support 120hz refresh rate?

Do you need the display to have a tuner built-in? If you just got a TV tuner, you could buy any display you wanted. Best used with Media Center on Win7 though.

Out of the those two, I'd choose the LG. They're probably both TN's, but LG usually has nice quality. The Hannspree doesn't even list the correct aspect ratio.

The Hanns is a great deal, but I repeatedly had trouble (with two different models) getting it to read HDMI. The inputs would die after awhile or not work from the get go. I use a DVI to D-sub adapter now with mine and it's not a big deal for me, but just know what you're getting into.

I am going to mainly use it as a TV in kids' room and occassionally attach a notebook to it to display some internet contents for kids.
