This boggles my mind. This is terrorism. But to be stuck in a confined area with some many people, knowing that people were getting stabbed, and being unable to escape would be terrifying. Where were the police?

Also assault knives, gun control, libruls, etc.

It was a group of people making the attack. Imagine how many would have been killed if that group had been wielding guns. Or assault weapons. Probably hundreds.

conversely, if any of the victims had been armed....yea, it would have been like bringing a knife to a gun fight.

Frankly i know guns are more deadly, but there's something inherently more frightening about this to me for some reason.

First there is no way one person with a knife did this unless it was a train of invalids. Second you don't have to ban knives you simply need to check people for knives before they board a crowded train.
To the gun point there is nothing wrong with sensible gun laws that keep guns away from criminals and deranged people.

It wasn't a single person with a knife it was a group of people with knives executing a planned attack against a crowd.

man that is horrible. This is why I practice knife defense and Chinna. Is this an ethnic flare up or anti government lash out?

I get the point you are trying to make. That said, a motivated group of people, or even a motivated single person can be deadly regardless of what weapon they choose to use.

I find it funny that the inference is that this was less of a tragedy because if they had used firearms there would have been more deaths... Therefore somehow, gun control is justified.

Quite frankly if something like this happened in the U.S., it would demonstrate beyond a doubt how silly gun control fanatics are... If the perp(s) are motivated, they will find a way.

Last time I checked, there are limits on the type of knives you are allowed to carry in public, just as we have laws about guns.

Wonder if this happened in the US, what the outcry would be? Ban on knives?
Nope. Knife attack = we need to take away your guns because at least 28 people would have died if it involved a gun.

btw, it is a crime to carry a knife in most cases. We already practice knife control. The debate about this is similar to the gun debate. There's definitely a difference between having a knife on a keychain and a huge hunting knife on your belt.

Hate to say it but as far as terrorism this is scarier than most things I can think about. It's one thing to come at you with guns and bombs or crashing planes but knives, box cutters, and beheadings ...nasty stuff. Hand to hand terrorism is when they mean business.

Indeed there are. Do you think anyone bent on being a criminal is going to adhere to the law?

That's some blood-curdling shit, right there.

Anti-weaponry laws, of any kind, are only an obstacle for people who obey laws in the first place.
