27 cigarettes per day is what my Grandma smokes :)

My grandma came from Poland to stay with us for the summer. She's 72. She also bought 840 cigarettes with her and she has been smoking like a fiend since she was 14. Her voice is rasped to the max and is probably one of the most annoying/ugly voices I have ever heard to date (not trying to be mean, I love my grandma).

She's already smoked out 840 ciggs in the first month and now is dry on supply. That's nuts. So here is where the issue comes in:

My mom wants me to drive her and grandma to the Indian reservation so she can re-supply on smokes. The Indians sell them for cheap and it's only reasonable she buys them there because regular smokes at $ 10 bucks a pack in the store will be way out of her budget considering she would burn $ 300 for the month easy if not more.

The thing is though, I don't support her smoking that much and don't feel like driving her. I think it's extreme. My mom said I'm an asshole and that I won't change a 72 year old person that's been smoking all her life. I'm actually not trying to change her at all, I just don't feel like being an enabler and the source of making her get another 1000 + ciggs for the 2nd month possible.

Opinions? Thoughts? Am I the grandson from hell?

Be serious!

Oh and no, I'm not moving out of my parents basement to those that suggest it. FU!

:D

Leave your grandma at the reservation and say she decided to live where the cigs were at.

Oh I would also like to point out that I am a super guy when it comes to driving people around, especially my grandma/mom. I pretty much drove them around half of Ontario not to mention daily trips around TO. Just the other day we went up to the beach and chilled. It's not like I'm not a nice guy you know?

My grandmother dipped snuff. Not the modern copenhagen type snuff, the old finely ground stuff. The spit cans she left around were nasty. As a side note, her grandmother was named Ora Clampitt, and yes, they were from Tennessee.

Your mothers right that there is not point in trying to stop a 72 year old women from smoking like a chimney. At this point in her life there is little that cigarette smoking will do to her that normal ageing would not. She will probably die of cancer due to her habit but at 72 she's at an age where people get cancer regardless of what their lifestyles may have been. However your mother is wrong to force you to drive her if you really don't feel like doing so. I'm guessing your mother didn't actually call you an ass hole. If she did then there are a lot more serious problems in your family that you aren't revealing here. Why is it she can't drive her herself?

You are a self righteous ass. She is 72 years old, your grandmother, and she has been smoking since she was 14. Drive her to get her cigarettes.

My thoughts are that if you don't want to drive a crack head to his dealer to buy crack despite him ending up getting it anyway there is nothing wrong with you. Your mom can drive your i love you-smoking grandma herself.

I fvcking hate smoking, though. I would probably drive her anyway because I'm a panzy.

I think the "You're living under their roof so you must abide by their rules" adage applies here. Hell, tell your mommy you'll take her if she pays for your gas.

Good compromise.

Take her to get cigs. She's your grandmother. She's smoked her entire life. Making her stop smoking at this point will likely *not* help her health any, but it could significantly degrade her quality of life. Just fucking drive already.
