Edit Again [2/12]:
Amazon's changed their prices again, and I'm not going to track them further. The prices are now $27 and $24 -- still better than elsewhere.

Edit Again [2/11]:
The Amazon SHIPPED version is back up to $25 (from yesterday's $20). On the bright side, you no longer have to pad it up to $25 for free shipping. 🙄

The Amazon DOWN-LOAD version remains (for how long?) at $19.

Edit [2/10]:

Note the third post, by Thump553. Neither search engine I used caught the Amazon offers, so a big thump to Thump'!

<FLAME ON :twisted:>
It took 2.5 hours for Dell to send me the email indicating I could now download the s/w. Nothing prepared me for the last miserable hour+ I squandered trying to do that: I was utterly unable to login to their download site (20 tries using 3 browsers), and I spent 40+ minutes on phone-hold and was dropped both times. I sent a rather irate note to their customer service about the experience. I've gone back and canceled the order. In placing the order with Amazon, I noticed they still have the D-Link 2208 1Gb switch for $45-$15MIR, so I used that to pad the price over $25 for free shipping. 🙂
</FLAME ON>

My original post follows... but I'm no longer an advocate of it!

Download - H&R Block At Home Deluxe + E-file + State 2009

"$28+" == $27.99 plus state taxes where Dell has a presence. I haven't noticed this for under $40, elsewhere. [

I used Bing to find the offer and went to Dell off a "Bing CashBack" icon, but I had no further indication of a BCB so I expect that wasn't captured.

Through last year, this product was known as "TaxCut" (although H&R Block has owned it). I've used it since TurboTax added DRM years ago, and I've found it quite competent. [I'd always purchased TT but wanted to let my GF use my copy.]

A couple of weeks ago Dell offered a download deal on H&R and it was an absolute disaster-people were reporting delays of days, even weeks to get the software and/or codes. Look on FW or SD for more info.

Also, there is a better deal on Amazon for today only-the same software is 19.99 as a gold box special (today only). Find 5.01 worth of filler and it is free shipping. Amazon's regular price is $25 (for the CD) and a few bucks cheaper for the download version-and Amazon's download system works.

Edit-good software, I've used it for a couple of years. Would like to know what moron decided to drop the name TaxCut in favor of the stupid new one it has now.

Thanks, folks, the $20 deal at Amazon.com is awesome. I'm an Amazon Prime member, so I didn't even have to spend a couple of hours looking for something to pad up to $25 for free shipping!

Re' name change. I'm sure it was for "branding". The company wants success with one product to spill over to the other, and to have one advertising campaign promote both products. ( The other product being their long established live-person tax services.)

That's a reasonable goal, and they've put "H&R Block" on their TaxCut packages for years. Their stupidity was in not shifting more subtly, gradually increasing the H&R logo and decreasing the TaxCut.

H&R had minions walking the floor at BB a couple of weeks ago, and those guys complained about the confusion attending the name change.
