27" 16:9 HDTV-Ready LCD TV deal back at costco.com

maybe i'm missing something, but i've seen this tv and its, well mediocre. at costco they have it side by side with a panny which costs 2x as much, but the panny LOOKS great.

saving my money for another few months until the panny is cheaper.

When it says tuner included, is that an HDTV tuner like the Sanyo 30" widescreen at Walmart for $647? That's my current pick, but it's a bitch getting a good one.. had 3 returns till I got one i was happy with.

Costco is notorious for describing its TVs in a very confusing fashion. As the actual name implies, this is simplay an HDTV-ready set. It only comes with an NTSC tuner (like every TV by definition). So to receive HDTV signals, you need an external ATSC tuner, cable box, etc. It does NOT have an "HDTV tuner".

Now that i bought one i wish it did have a tuner instead of just being hdtv-ready. On the other hand the dvi and vga signals to it look very clean and crisp. I couldnt tell the difference between dvi imputs with my panasonic (which is 2x more in price), but watching regular tv (basic cable with no hdtv tuner) really showed the difference in quality. The main reason i chose this over any other retailer is costco's warranty. I can trust the fact that if i ever have any problems with this tv i can return it for store credit.

JSJackStraw, I only see a 20" LCD at Walmart for that price of $647 and it is a 4:3 aspect ratio set, not 16:9.
