I currently have:

Asus A7V
Duron 650
2x 128mb Crucial PC133

I'm going to buy a new T-bird when the price drops hit on March 5th, but which type should i buy? 200 or 266?

I was wondering about a 266 just in case i upgrade the mobo in the future, but will a 266 run ok in a 200 mobo?

buy the 266.im sure it would work with current mb but i'd sell current mb/cpu as set to take full advantage of the 266.

But will my Asus A7V be able to run a 266bus t-bird?

Be it at 200Mhz bus or anything else

I know that the T-bird won't run at 133, but can i run the 266 T-bird at 200? Or does it have to run on a 133 chipset?

Although i've just realised i would have to change the multiplier. i.e. to get a 133 1.2Ghz T-bird to run at 100 1.2Ghz, i would have to change the multiplier from 9x to 12x!
That can't be good :)

I guess i'll just plump for the 100 1.2Ghz!

wrong, changing the multiplier is fine. read the threads here... lots of poeple have used 100s in 133s (I dont know about 133s in 100 but they should be identical)

Do you think there is any difference, excepting the multiplier, between a 200 TBird and a 266 one ?? Some genie inside telling to not work with such or such FSB ? It's exactly like PIII 100 or 133, just the multiplier... So, if you 'unlock' your TBird and choose the proper multiplier according to the FSB, it will work without "making any difference"...
