2600K owners, what are your temps?

Part of me feels like I'm getting higher than average temps, so I was just wondering if you kind 2600K owners wanted to share your temps, along with your setups?

I have an Antec Lanboy Air with a Noctua NH-D14. But I think my temps are a bit too high, which I find puzzling.

Right now I'm at stock, and I'm idling around mid-high 20s, with my highest core at about 30-32.

Under load, my lowest core is around 47, while my highest core is in the 53-55 range. These are at stock speeds mind you. I've taken it up to 4.6 or so, and my temps were in the high 60s, and even saw 71-72 a couple times.

I don't think this is normal. I'm using a top-shelf heatsink in conjunction with Arctic Silver 5, inside a case that allows for plenty of ventilation. I applied the thermal paste in a thin vertical line, almost the entire length of the CPU. Is that the best way to apply the thermal paste for a Sandy Bridge chip?

What do you use to check your temps? Did you double check in the Bios?
When did you apply the AS5? It needs a breaking in period of over 200 hours if im not mistaken

I'm in the low 70's at 4.9g fullload..

I have a Coolermaster 212+ HSF

My case is a Coolermaster RC-690 - 1 fan sucking on the front and 2 blowing out the top .. My HSF blows out the top also..

In your other thread, you mention that all your fans are blowing in..

That doesn't sound conducive to good airflow..

Your temps seem fine. There are plenty of threads out there on this same subject. Depending on your ambient temps, your voltages and even ramping the CPU up to 4.6, I would have to say your temps are in the very good range.

I believe that is actually how the lanboy air is designed. I never saw one until a few days ago when I got curious... but the whole case is basically mesh. It's kinda all intake and then free exhaust everywhere...

Doesn't make sense for an enclosed space..
There should be an " in " and an " out " ; otherwise you just have mostly warm air circulating in the enclosed space...

I could be wrong, but I would like to see some documented tests ...

I see what you mean. It seems like it wouldn't make sense, but it's actually a pretty neat concept.

See, the whole case is pretty much wide open. It's just mesh and beams all over, and I think it actually works pretty well too. Under full load, I can feel heat all around the heatsink. Front, back, and sides of the case. I can just feel the warm air finding its way out.

Last Monday is when I started putting the system together. I applied the AS5 Monday night, but I actually didn't even boot the machine until the following day. It got too late and I had to go to bed.

Open air cases allow you to move significantly more air to and from your components that's for sure, in fact I'm surprised any enthusiast would even bother with a closed air case.

Intel chips run a high temp at load, especially with hyper threading enabled. I believe 70c is within spec on the new chips and needless to say the stock cooler would probably have you at least 10c to 15c hotter.

At your current temps you have some decent headroom to work with.

I use Core Temp, which reports the same exact temps as Real Temp.

Your temps are fine. low 70's for 4.6 is perfect. These i7's will happily run in the 70's all day long. Im not sure what you are expecting but dont compare it to your Q6600.

You're totally in the normal range.
