One of the 2600 routers we are working with will randomly reset itself. When it does this it will also lose its configuration. The running config has been copied to the startup config and the problem still occurs. I have also tested this by setting IPs for the interfaces, saving the config and then turing it off. When the 2600 restarts it comes back up with a clean config. Is this a hardware problem with the rotuer or is it something in the software that could be causing the problem?

Do a sh ver and see what it reports for the configuration register. If it doesnt show 0x2102, that could be affecting why it keeps losing its config. To set it to 0x2102, go into global config mode and type "config-register 0x2102" Try searching cisco's site for config-register if you want more information on this.

Hope this helps

Try a "Peel & Pound."

Open it up and re-seat the RAM and Flash.

You might wanna reload the IOS as well, it sounds like you may have a bad chunk of code.

Good Luck
