I've got a mobile athlon xp 2600 that I can't get 200mhz fsb on while overclocking. I can get to 2.4 at 166mhz fsb but if I try to set it to 200 I cant get over 1700mhz. I've set the ram to run at 6-3 and overclocked the cpu to 1.8. Still can't get above 1700 at 200mhz. When running at 166 and 2400, I can drop the voltage to 1.625. I've checked my temps and they are below 40.

One other thing is that when I try going above 1700/200, the computer starts beeping like a siren. ANyone have any ideas?

Bump the voltage of the ram to 2.8 turn it back to 200 and lower the clock multi on the cpu to rule it out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I dropped the multiplier to 7.5 and jumped to 200mhz and 2.8 voltage for the ram. No problem. I got it up to 220 before I stopped. I was not able to complete more than 3 runs of sandra's memory burn in tests at 220 (440mhz memory) but was able to boot to windows and run normal apps. I'm pretty sure the ram is ok.

I have a 420 watt enlight psu. I'm running one sata seagate hd, 1 120mm fan, 1 dvd+rw, and a Radeon 9600 NP. I wouldn't think it was lacking voltage.

Any other suggestions?

I would say for you to download and run memtest86 while trying to run at 200 fsb with a low multiplier (so that you rule out processor problems) and see if memtest86 shows any memory problems after the first 4 or 5 tests. Memetest86 runs in dos mode at bootup and is a lot better check of memory integrity that sandra.

One other thing, I've heard of NF7-S mobos giving problems before with the siren sound and high fsb speeds. Maybe you got a bum board.

Is it a Rev. 2.0? If it is, then RMA it if you can't figure out the problem. It's using the Ultra 400 Chipset so 200FSB should be no problem and I would assume it would be no sweat for the CPU either..

I decided to try it with only one stick of ram. I got it up to 215 and a high multiplier. I believe one of the sticks was giving me problems. I had three sticks in there and should be smart enough to know that I should have done all my testing with a single stick. Thanks for all the help.
