So i have been upgrading my system piece by piece and i finally got my new corsair xms 3200 ram with 2-2-2-5 timings i had my 2600+ m at 2.4ghz with my crucial 2700 ram holding me back and now with the new ram ive got it running rock solid at 2525.74 with a pr rating of 3600+:) and a fsb of 210. I dont have the nf7-s bios that supposedly does the L12 mod for you and im kind of curious to see what i can get out of it with that bios. If someone would post a link to it i would appreciate it. Would also like to discuss what others are getting out of their 2600s. Ive got my vcore at 1.68v and my vdimm at 2.9v. Under prime 95 im hitting 52c at idle im sitting about 43c.

What is this L12 mod you are talking about? Can't you run any mobile Barton on an NF7-S R2? I had thought it was like using the older unlocked desktop Bartons from last year (which I have one of).

What does one need to do to run an XP-M at 200MHz FSB on an NF7-S?

I dont need to do anything to run it at 210 fsb. Right out of the box it does it all the multipliers and fsb are unlocked on the mobiles. The l12 mod is a mod you can do to your NF7-s 2.0 to get higher fsb capability out of it. You can actually mod your hardware to do it or, supposedly there is a modded bios out that will automatically do it for you. I remember seeing a link to it in a post a while back but cant seem to find it so i was hoping someone could link me to it.

So if I was to get myself a mobile Barton and wanted to run it at 12x200 I wouldn't have to mod it? That's all I want to do. :)

that is correct. I bought mine at excaliberpc.com and got the guranteed stepping for 115$ shipped. Processor seems to run great. Im wondering how far i can push the fsb without upping my voltage anymore...I doubt i will though 420 seems fast enough. 440 would be excellent but i dont wanna sacrifice those sweet ram timings. I use the 2600 mobile Iqyha stepping most seem to do at least 2.5 out of the box.

I was thinking of getting one of the 35W chips as all I want is 2400MHz at some lower Vcore. I am hoping to be able to hit 2.4 @ 1.6V or less. :)

Sorry to have hijacked your thread, thanks for being a good sport.

its cool. From what ive gathered these chips are basically the same as a desktop barton just cherry picked because they can run at lower voltages and less power consumption. Which to me essentially meens as long as you keep them within the reasonable voltages of your typical desktop barton you are reasonably safe. BTW mine will do 2.4 at 1.6v there is of course the diminishing returns on upping the vcore so at 2.53ghz it takes a little over 1.7 to stabalize. Managed to get her posting at 220 fsb but no where close to stable would fail prime after about 2 minutes. Right now im running sandra burn in wizard and prime on her with fsb at 210X12 seems to be doing allright. Gonna keep her going all evening. My rule of thumb with any chip is never over 1.75 vcore. I plan on sticking that same reasoning on this chip. It may shorten my cpu lifespan down to 2 years instead of 4 or 5 but what the heck i never keep a cpu longer than a year anyways.

Ymeister19, your running at the same speeds as me, at lower voltages :)

well when u buy mobiles, u can be sure that the PR rating is the actual speed its gonna run at! :)

Here's a link to a thread on moded BIOS HERE. I think you want the D23 3D Rev. 2 BIOS by tictac.

I think this thread has a link to d/l the modded BIOS.

Please lemme know how it works. I've got pretty much the same rig as you and wanna push it when the cool weather arrives.

I installed the modded bios w2hen i got home from work. It seems to be helping ive booted windows at 440 fsb and have hit a top speed of around 2.7 ghz. I really was only shooting for 420 fsb with a speed of 2526 so i backed it off to that and managed to lower my voltage down to 1.7 instead of 1.75. Im priming it right now seems to be doing fine. I relaxed the timings on the ram slightly as i seemed to be having prime troubles. Im going to try for 215 fsb with 12.0 multiplier if the lower timings make it more stable

I have a mobile 2500+ on the way, I may even get it tomorrow. I bought it from a buddy here on AT who had really good luck with it, I think my dream of 12x200 is a reality. I may even get 12x205, my value select is good for that @ 2.5-3-3-11 easily.
