Which is better for overclocking - the Athlon AMD 2600+ 333 or AMD 2700+ 333? Also, if applicable, wha'ts best core? I'm upgrading my computer right now (more RAM, new vid card and new CPU) so price is also somewhat important...

Currently working with:
Athlon AMD 2000+
ASUS K7V333
Samsung DDR333 512MB
NVidia GeForce3 Ti 200
Maxtor 7200RPM 80GB
Windows XP Pro

I'd say get a 2500+. They are almost all great overclockers, you're almost guaranteed 3200+ speeds out of them, and they should be cheaper than a 2600/2700. Go for either a Barton or Thoroughbred-B core. The 2600 and 2700s are Tbred-B and the 2500 is a Barton as are the 2800, 3000, and 3200s. (more on-die cache, 512k vs 256k) There are inevitable some 3200s that get binned down as the lower speeds, and if you're lucky you'll get one.

Agreed, If you want Barton go 2500+, else go 1700+ or any Tbred B.

Thanks a lot. I decided to go with the 2500+ Barton, which actually costs more than the 2600+ ($3!!!), but apparently will be worth it. Now all I need is to get the RAM replaced and a new vid card and I'll be good.
