wow...they even lower it to $90!! ^_^
I ordered 4! For $360 (plus $19.99 shipping) for 4 256mb PC133 you can't go wrong (unless your board can't support it) :)
I can't wait.....

Does anyone with MSI K7T Pro2 (MS-6330) using this memory fine? It's strange that this MB is on the compatiblity list at jcshopper.com but not on this site. They appear to be the same chip. If I'm absolutely sure it works, I might want to get one.

Thanks,

cpliu

CLiu- If I'm not misreading, JCShopper explicitly says this stuff is INCOMPATIBLE with the MSI boards. I too am looking for cheap 256M dimms for a kt7pro2, so please let me know if you find people who are successful with this stuff...

Got my ram today, plugged it in turned it on and it worked. Not a bad deal, though now I have 2 sticks of 128MB PC100 lying around.

BTW, does anybody know if this stuff is compatible with Epox 7KXA (via KX133)? It doesn't mention anything about the Epox in the campatibility list, although most of the KX133 boards seems to be compatible.

<< CL stands for CAS Latency >>

Don't you just love it when they explain an acronym with another acronym? :)
Anyways, I ordered from JCShopper. They immediately charged my card, but of course it was back-ordered. When I asked for my money, they tried to bait and switch me with some more expensive RAM. What a waste of my time. They have until monday to give me my dough back before I take it up with my CC company. Definitely not dealing with these guys again.
Anyone have any success with some of the other $90 RAM places?

I'm using the $90 Syncmax 256MB DIMMS in two systems I just built, and they're working perfectly so far (about 48 hours) at PC133 CAS3. This is the SDRAM from PCCost, and the Syncmax part I received is S256M16044. Complete specs are available atText.

It's running with EPOX 8KTA+ motherboards and Duron 700@850 CPUs. Syncmax lists the 8KTA series boards as supported for this module.

PCCost isn't showing this memory on their site anymore. Perhaps they've run out. It may be available from other sources.

Hey Supertool, why don't you go for the upgrade from JCShopper? My order was also on backorder, but I just forked over the extra bucks for the Micron brand memory that they offered me, and that got shipped to me today.:)

assuming RichardK is right about the RAM being model # S256M16044, it is not compatible with the Abit KT7-RAID board, which means I am out of luck. damn!

Yep, the memory I received from PCcost is Syncmax S256M16044. That's their 2565MB PC133 module. Some other vendors (such as ComputerSuperSale) are selling S256M16034, which is PC100. Others don't list the exact Syncmax model number, which is unfortunate, since Syncmax has a nice web site with lots of compatibility info.

The S256M16044 is incompatible with the KT-7 RAID, but works with many other boards. Go here . Click on "The Memory Module", then "Motherboard Compatibility".

Actually, SDRAM prices seem to have gone up a bit, and lots of vendors are out of stock. That's bound to change soon, though.

Bought my first 256mb stick a couple of weeks ago at around $134. The price dropped to $128 and then went up to around $140+.

Today I received an email from Accessmicro that ram was going up again (right). But when I checked the price of the stick it was back down to around $136.

Should I get another stick right now or see if it drops down a little more? This ish is like playing the stock market... should've just picked up another stick when it was at $128. Here's a link to the stick I bought http://www.accessmicro.com/productinfo.php3?ProductId=SP256PC1333264

I tested it out on my friends PC100 board and it works fine... I won't be needing the ram until the end of December though, but with the shopping season around I'm afraid it might cause the price to shoot up again. But then again, DDR could bring it back down.

Yeah I will be running Win2k, using photoshop, 3d studio max, autocad and what not... should I wait it out more?

I got my 256MB of ram at Upgrade planet. It was $93 when I got it and was for the AThlon system only it seems. I seen the same thing that it would work in an Abit KT7 but not the raid version. As I have the plain one, I bought it. It is working great and wished that I could get another at that price

2 things everyone must remember is that...

Although win 98 can address up to 2gb of ram, the only appulications that will benefit from the extra ram will be photoshop. Eveything else well.. you'll get maybe a 3% gain between 128 to 512mb

and second... the quality of the Ram is very important... and never I mean NEVER MIX Different type of ram togeter... There are a lot more factors then just Cas Latency in a Ram... if you use a stick of one brand of ram and a stick of an other ram their quality and yield could vary a lot.. makes for unstable system.

A stick of CL2 pc100 is slightly (just a hair) slower than a stick of CL3 pc133.. in another word.. if you can pump high FSB on CL2.. you have really good ram... But never mix ram. When you replace ram.. replace them all w/ the same kind and sell your old ones here! =)
