I wouldn't say "killer", but it will beat up on it really bad! Roughly same price or $20 more for more power at higher resolutions and/or heavy filtering.

Heck, 6800NU are no where near this price - lowest I've seen was on a BFG for $200 last week. I like Nvidia cards, but would buy this one if I would not already own a 6600GT. Not really worth upgrading for this.

Looks like X800/6800 are finally starting to drop in price. Now if a 6800GT comes in close to $200 that might make me upgrade (though not really - I'd wait till next year).

Make sure you note this is the X800 not X800XL (I think this was larry's point). Contrary to the NewEgg user's review, this is not the '6800GT Killer.'

Hot if this is what you want, best I could find elsewhere is $232, so this is almost $50 cheaper.

No...this is PCI-E....which makes the deal smoking. Check pricewatch.....lowest is around $240 for this card...which is even lower than the lowest PCI-E 6800NU.

This is probably a price mistake, IMO.

It costs the same at CV as well, and even though they use the same warehouse they don't use the same point of sale. It's not a price mistake.

I used to say stupid stuff like that back when I owned a GF2.

Drivers are not an issue with ATI or Nvidia these days. I'd like an 850XT or a 6800Ultra and the first one under $200 is my next videocard. :D

smoking? as in blowing smoke ?

the msrp is $199 so this is not blowing smoke up anyone since it's only 5% below msrp. You could always get it for msrp at the national chains. Just because of shortage in intial avalialbility doesn't mean it really costs $250 or whatever gougers were charging for it. This just means that very soon everyone will sell this for this price and then you will see the really good deal (e.g. $175 or less)

Wow. Smoking price. At this price it's no brainer over 6600GT.

I was the same way in the GF2 days, as it was true.
Now, things have flipped.
ATi has better drivers with more features that make a difference.
Started around the time of the 9700's.
nVidia has started to catch up some this year, but ATi still has a slight edge in best drivers and cards.
Latest nVidia drivers lastest about 15 minutes before I yanked that crap and installed old.

Where can you get this for $199 at a retail chain?

Anyway, looks like I was right and it was a price mistake.

Personally I never had problems with ATI drivers in windows. But I like Nvidia's drivers better, esp since they have such good linux support.

You mean they had a bunch of excess and wanted to clear it?

eBay prices for this hover around $200-$220, which makes this deal warm to semi-hot.

And Newegg doesn't do price mistakes. I'm not sure how, but I've never caught a pricing error on their site.

I'm curious if the GDDR3 on this X800 is the same 2ns memory on the X800 Pro. X800 SE's also have their memory set at 700MHz, but it's regular GDDR.
