256mb performance on newest games?

Hey guys,

I've been considering buying a Sapphire 1950xt 256mb to replace my aging 1800xt 512mb. I know it's an upgrade to what I have, but I'm wondering if the faster 256mb on the 1950xt is gonna get the job done on games like Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Team Fortress 2. Would it be better to keep my slower card (x1800xt) because it has 512? Or go with the faster card (1950xt) with less ram? I probably won't game above 1280x1024, until I get a new monitor and nvidia g92 sometime at the beginning of next year. Any advice?

1) GF9 should be out in Nov. so you might want to wait until then

2) ATI should have a new mid-range card with performance near HD 2900XT for $199-249 shortly.

If you can sell your X1800XT for say $100, then upgrading to 8800GTS 320 is $150. You might want to look into that.

I'm hoping this is the case as I want to upgrade quickly, but for what it's worth, the last Inquirer rumor on this implied it would be January.

The last Inquirer rumor implied DisplayPort boards were going to launch in CES 2008.

The regular boards are still on board for yuletide.
