256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450

I can't afford a "gaming" laptop.
Some of the "all purpose" laptops out there offer some options for discrete graphics card, but I'm not sure how good those are.

is 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 sufficient for gaming (UT3, Prey, City of Villains, ...)

the dv5t from HP I'm looking at offers the following nvidia options, how do they compare?

256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9200M GS

512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT

I would prefer nvidia because I want to dual boot on linus and nvidia drivers are simply better under linux.

Well to answer this one anyway, it goes:

9200GS is pretty puny

HD 3450 can play some games on low or medium

9600GT can play games on medium

I have that gpu. it's sufficient but my comp gets quite warm. My one and only game is counterstrike. the 3450 runs just fine on high, i usually get about 70-80 fps
