256MB Compact Flash Card at Fry's in LA Area for $69.95

Unfortunately, I do not know if it is Type I or Type II. (I think it's type I)

Sandisk 96MB Compact Flash Card for $24.95. SANDISK! No warranty. Limit one per customer. Type I.
Salesperson tried to sell me a case with it, but it comes with a case! So don't get a case.

Deals above end 7/30.

Everquest for $5 dollars.

The first deal was in today's ads. The last two, I saw in the store.

Get this: I'm checking out the 96MB Sandisk CF card and ask 4 different sales reps if it's type I or type II. 3 says that everything on display is type II (which is the reason why I didn't get the 128MB CF Card for 39 dollars earlier). 1 says that everything is type I. Well $24.95 is cheap so I decide to get it anyway. If it's not type I (the one I need), I can always ebay it. So I get it, and it turns out to be type I. It fits perfectly in my jornada which only takes type I. So yea, if you go to the City of Industry Fry's, let them know that it is Type I and not type II!!

Damn this is tempting do I buy this no name brand and trust my pics on it or spend $30 more and get a name brand CF card like Lexar, Kingston, etc.?

Here's a direct link to the LA Times/Fry's ad.

Hey Rossman, same thing I'm thinking. Do you have a Fry's in your area? Online it's $99.00 at outpost.com, and it doesn't even specify the specs of the card. Good deal, but my checking account has been wiped (almost) clean after getting that Canon A40. I'm still waiting for it to be delivered to be from OM. :)

Hey what a coincidence I also bought the Canon A40 from OM for $249 after $50 off $250 coupon, awesome price!

I definitely want 256MB CF but I can't decide on which brand or where to buy it from.

Oh yes we have a Fry's here in Wilsonville, OR about 25 minutes south of Portland.

Likely it's SanDisk in bulk package, plastic bag, no box.
3 weeks ago they have 128MB CF for $39, no brand name mentioned in the ad, and I found out it's SanDisk from the store.

How do you find out, just ask the salesperson or is it indicated somewhere else I should be looking?

They don't put those CF, or any kind of memory, on the shelf, instead, they have a board which posts the price of all the memory. Just go there and check which one matches the sale price. Or just tell those guys you want that advertised CF and they will check it up from the computer.

I bought the bulk pack Sandisk 384MB for $108, it should be Type I since my digital camera doesn't take Type II.

For those of you getting the 20 off 99 coupons from Amazon (see the AT thread here), they have the Viking Components 256mb Type I for $99.95 - 20 coupon - $10 MIR (for those of you willing to do rebates) for the total of $69.95 shipped free.

I'd get the Viking over the Sandisk anyday, the Viking is an 8x card and the Sandisk an 4x. Makes a big difference on a big 9mb D7 raw file ! Not much of a difference on 400k file of course !

CalebTG - Thanks for that idea. I'd much rather buy online from Amazon and have it shipped to my PO Box so I don't have to drive all the way down to Wilsonville. I wonder how difficult it is to score an Amazon.com $20 off $100 coupon I'll have to re-read that thread.

Plus Viking makes great CF cards.

How odd..ive heard others who buy those cf cards from fry's taht say it's type I. the odd thing is that i asked two different salespeople what cf card it was, and they both looked in the system and said type II. :(

At 256MB it's most likely a Type I. I was at MicroCenter today and they had a "high speed" 256MB CF for $379! Damn we need a Fry's in Detroit!

It's most likely the IOData brand. I've just bought two of the 128 MB CF cards for 38 and 39.95 respectively, at Fry's. It's not exactly a no name brand. These CF cards are mfg in Japan according to the website Here. They are retail packaged in a sealed box. I have these in my new A40 and they work perfectly. By the way, Type ll CF is the microdrive. Not many cameras are utilizing CF ll. Nikon Coolpix 995 and the Canon G2 are the ones that come to mind and they can use both type l or ll.

This deal is also good in the Bayarea. SKU # is 3127510. Two per customer.

If anyone can get the 256 meg card for me and ship it to NY, that would be awesome. Please PM me and we'll work out the details. I really want a compact flash card for my digital camera
