For future reference, DO NOT CALL OR WRITE THE COMPANY TO ASK IF IT IS A PRICE MISTAKE!
If it is a mistake, then you've just brought it to their attention and ruined the deal for everyone.

If you don't want to deal with any "potential credit card refund headache", then just don't bother ordering it.

Upgrading systems at work. I order 1200 to cover all the machines we've got.

Man, the boss is going to love me if this comes through.

Of course, I'm kidding. No one will get any. This makes me happy when people are stupid and order a ridiculous amount.

A looooong time ago (perhaps 5 years now), I spoke with a smaller shop (smaller than Compaq anyway) about an abused deal I got in on (I knew the dealer and he called me up after I placed my order and told me he would honor it, but it was a mistake but he was going to cancel some orders)....he was going to honor the purchases until his own regular clients called up pissed that some no-name shop was selling them the same product they bought the last month for half price and not only that bad mouthing his company saying they are in the business to rip people off....turns out the no-name shop got a ton of the 'deal' and was brokering to the clients he listed on his 'Top Customer' page. It was a niche type shop selling really only one product (I forget exactly what it was now, maybe some sort of Home Theatre thingy, but could have been mountain biking or computers or even something else)).

Most vendors would gladly bite the bullet on a price mistake and honor the ppl that come in ordering 1, 2 or possibly even 3...however when you get 100 people ordering the max the cart allows in a row, the merchant now knows now people are profitting from his mistake and also possibly taking away future business or even slandering/libeling them.

Sure...it's a mistake and sure you can argue why not exploit it and make some money...but it's just that: exploitation, if you want to walk that side of the line of society I won't stop you, but I hope if you get found out these types of boards ban your sorry excuse for complex carbon groups ;).

HP stated clearly on their shopping cart page:

"HP is not liable for pricing errors. If you place an order for a product that was incorrectly priced, we will cancel your order and credit you for any charges."

There's no chance of them honoring this deal if it's a mistake.

It's a pricing mistake and they won't honor it. The actual price is around $54 per stick. I called to check on the status of the order, but mostly to see if it was too good to be true.

Didn't you read NOT TO CALL EVER when there is a price mistake like this? You call, they catch it and immediatedly pull the plug on it. Think before you act...
